New retail center planned for southwest

Feb. 21, 2018

A growing area of southwest Sioux Falls soon will have more stores and restaurants.

The new Roosevelt Marketplace retail center will be on the northwest corner of 41st Street and Sertoma Avenue, on vacant land next to Kum & Go.

“This part of the city has been starving for more retail and food options,” said Ryan Tysdal of Van Buskirk Cos., who is leasing the retail center. “This will be a great opportunity to offer more neighborhood services closer to home for west-side residents.”

This past fall, Scooter’s Coffee and Pizza Hut opened locations nearby in a new retail center.

Construction is expected to start this spring on the new 11,000-square-foot Roosevelt Marketplace, which has space for five businesses.

“Being directly across the street from Roosevelt High School, the largest school in South Dakota, is a huge draw,” Tysdal said.

“We have some leases in the works, with a couple spots left, including a drive-thru endcap.”

Tenants are expected to start opening this fall.
