New business offers bubble tea, other drinks

By Rosemary McCoy

A new business in Sioux Falls offers customers a wide selection of bubble teas, smoothies and other beverages.

Tasteas opened Monday in the Gilrich Mall I at 1018 W. 41st St. It’s owned by Chun “Denny” Pan and his wife, Ping Lin.

They brew a tea base and then the options expand from there. Customers can choose from several flavors of milk teas, fruit teas, boba specialties, ice-blended or coffee smoothies, and Asian yogurt drinks. After that, they can choose whether to have in boba, which are tapioca pearls, or fruit jellies. They also can decide how sweet they want their drink. Tasteas also serves a cup of basic hot tea in eight varieties.

Prices for the drinks range from $3.25 to $5.50, with an additional 50 cents for the boba or jelly.

Pan moved from China to the U.S. 12 years ago, and Lin immigrated nine years ago. They have lived in Sioux Falls for three years.

To celebrate the opening, Tasteas is offering a buy-two-get-one-free special or 20 percent off a single drink.

Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
