For thousands of Novak Sanitary Service customers, it wouldn’t be a new year without a Novak calendar magnet.

The company has been sending them for years as a way to keep track of trash and recycling pick-up dates.

“We really might have customers who would cry if they didn’t get one. We have people calling in mid-November asking about their calendars,” said Michelle Kretzschmar, who helps coordinate the project for Novak.

She doesn’t worry about getting the calendars out before the new year, though, because Curt Reinschmidt is on the other end of the order.

“He’s a godsend,” Kretzschmar said. “If you email, within 10 minutes you hear back. I just like Curt because he’s genuine. He’s not trying to sell us something. He’s trying to help.”

Reinschmidt has spent decades in the office supply industry and found his niche with promotional products. He worked with Novak at a previous job, and when he joined Interstate Office Products earlier this year, they picked up the relationship like no time had passed.

“You’ll never hear him say he can’t do something,” Kretschmar said. “He will find a way.”

Reinschmidt leads IOP’s new promotional products division, which connects customers with a vast number of options for promotional items, apparel and printing.

“Huge might be an understatement. There are thousands of vendors with thousands of products,” Reinschmidt said.

Reinschmidt can help clients sort through all the options, said Sheila Casiello, IOP co-owner, who oversees the division.

“With his expertise, he’s able to direct people to the right products and find what they want,” she said. “They give a little description, and he searches.”

Along with the annual calendar order, which requires multiple varieties reflecting different service days for different customers, Novak orders other promotional materials from IOP. There are stacks of envelopes, pens, notepads and business cards with the Novak logo, desk calendars for employees and Novak stocking hats for those who work outdoors, just to name a few.

“I’m sure we’ll be doing more,” Kretschmar said.

Novak founder Bob Novak knew he didn’t need to look anywhere else for items when he launched his new business, Wine Time on Main, this fall.

“It was a long relationship, and I’d always had a good experience working with Curt,” Novak said. “IOP did all our furniture back in 1999, and it’s still there, and you’d never guess it was from 1999.”

He used the IOP promotional products division to create branded wine keys and wine gift bags.

“They did an awesome job. Everyone says they’re amazing bags,” Novak said.

IOP also printed the 14-page wine list as a book for Wine Time.

“Sheila really took charge of that and did an outstanding job,” Novak said.
