Mother-daughter entrepreneurs opening store in old Zing building

By Jodi Schwan

The owner of Chelsea’s Boutique is teaming up with her mom to bring a new home decor store to the former Zing building.

Chelsea Tracy and her mom, Patience Pickner, are opening Conversation Piece in the building on the southwest corner of 11th Street and Minnesota Avenue. It will include a “unique fusion of vintage and modern-themed decor,” she said.

The building has been vacant for a year.

Conversation Piece will renovate the south portion of the space, and the north end is still for lease.

Tracy has owned a boutique on Phillips Avenue for several years. Pickner owns the florist and decor shop The Picket Fence in Chamberlain.

“Conversation Piece is a wonderful fusion between my mom and I combining our individualistic design styles of vintage and modern,” Tracy said. “We’ll both add our own identities and collaborate on themes to offer items people can build their whole home spaces around. We’ve been contemplating this store together for years and are so excited to expand her (Patience’s) experienced design work to Sioux Falls with my marketing and customer service assistance.”

The store will be staffed with professionals “offering services of design inspiration and guidance with obtaining conversational elements that transform ambiances of a home,” she said.

The plan is to open sometime in June.
