Look’s Market considers opening at Callaway’s

Sept. 17, 2018

The owners of Look’s Market might be taking over the Callaway’s property along Prairie Green Golf Course.

According to a rezoning request submitted to the city by Heineman Hospitality, the company has Callaway’s under contract and wishes to continue a restaurant.

The rezoning is a bit of a technicality, as the existing use wouldn’t change. The area at 500 E. 69th St. is zoned as office space even though it includes a restaurant and event space.

The owners of Look’s have held one neighborhood meeting and are planning another, city urban planner Jason Bieber said.

“It sounds like the neighborhood is supportive,” he said.

The plan doesn’t involve new construction but rather remodeling of the existing space, keeping a restaurant with some retail and office space, Bieber said.

Look’s Market is located about 1.5 miles to the west in Heather Ridge Village at 69th and Western Avenue.

No timelines have been provided to the city about when the Callaway’s property could change hands.

The item is scheduled for the City Planning Commission meeting Oct. 3 and would go to City Council later that month.
