Longtime women’s clothing store to close

April 9, 2019

Attitudes by Designers is closing its longtime store at the Park Ridge Galleria.

The last day will be April 26, and a going-out-of-business sale has started. It will include all merchandise as well as the store’s fixtures.

Kathryn Swanson has owned the business since 2010. It began downtown more than 30 years ago and has been at 26th Street and Western Avenue the past two decades.

Swanson is open to selling the business “if anyone is interested in taking Attitudes is a new direction,” said her daughter-in-law, Dani.

“She’s just ready to take her life in a different direction and slow down a little bit. I wouldn’t say she’s retiring but just ready to move on to the next chapter of her life. She wants everyone to know she just has loved every day of it. It’s been such a joy – more fun than a job. She’s loved dressing all the beautiful women of Sioux Falls and seeing them walk through the door and catching up with their lives.”

Attitudes has benefited from loyal clientele who looked for a high-quality, sophisticated wardrobe, she said.

“They all have their own unique style, which we catered to when we would shop at markets. They’re customers who have become friends.”
