Large residential lots near Lake Alvin target high-end market

By Jodi Schwan

A new development near Lake Alvin will offer large lots for upscale homes.

The owners of Deffenbaugh Homes are developing the property on the west side of Lake Alvin and north of 273rd Street.

Lakeview Estates has nine lots ranging from 2 to 4 acres and priced from $200,000 to $450,000.

“It’s a certain client,” Jesse Deffenbaugh said. “Some people like having that much space. And it’s a wide mix. It could be a family that wants more room to spread out so kids can have a dirt bike or grow up in the country versus being in a development.”

The neighborhood is in the Harrisburg School District.

Homes likely will start at $1 million, he said.

“In general, it’s a buyer that wants more space, wants a setting with a nice view and really likes having their own space.”

Roads are in and utility work is starting, so homes could start construction in November, he said.

An open house will be held at the property from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14.

While the development has covenants, “they are very loose as far as restrictions on roof pitch and percentage of stone versus siding and size,” Deffenbaugh said.

“All we’re requiring is 2,000 square feet on the main level, but we do want it very well designed.”
