Name: Christie Aberson

Age: 35

Hometown: Sioux Falls

What brought you to Sioux Falls?

Simple living. My husband and I lived in Scottsdale and Los Angeles when we were first married, but we both knew there was no better place than home to live and raise our children. We moved back to South Dakota in 2009.

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

Best place to live in the U.S.! The people are inviting, the community is growing in all the right ways, and the best part is being close to our families.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

My clients and exceeding their expectations! I love being able to leverage the many connections I’ve developed over the years to help my clients succeed. They see me as a trusted, reliable resource. My clients have a demanding lifestyle and expect the best of the best.

How did you get connected to your industry?

I’ve been in banking for over a decade. I have experience in a variety of areas, including mortgage originating to business banking. Each area has broadened my knowledge, my network and areas of expertise.

Describe Great Western Bank in three words.

Local. Visible. Trusted.

What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?

Connecting others to what fits their passion whether that’s through time on a board, donating to a cause or simply helping a neighbor. I’m a people person!

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

Trader Joe’s.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

For me, the journey is more important than the destination. I see myself continuing to grow, helping people, volunteering in the community, raising our children, following a faithful life. I want to be the best I can be and in turn help others be their best also.
