Giving Back for March

  1. March 29, 2019

Giving Back recognizes businesses and organizations that are helping our communities. Here’s a look at who gave back in March.

Skyforce

Two Skyforce basketball players visited Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire earlier this month to talk about the importance of school and mentors, and to play games and shoot hoops with the kids. Later in the month, the kids participated in the Skyforce Anthem Buddies program and presented the flag at a game.

Wells Fargo & Co.

The Wells Fargo Foundation has donated $250,000 to the American Red Cross to help with flood-relief efforts in the Midwest. The foundation also gave $75,000 to local nonprofits to help with recovery in affected communities. Wells Fargo is working with customers who are experiencing financial hardship because of flooding, and the bank is making it easy for other customers to donate to the American Red Cross. Donations to help with flooding and tornado relief efforts can be made at ATMS in several states through Wednesday. Customers also can donate their Go Far Rewards through Thursday. Employees in Sioux Falls also helped fill sandbags.

Spoke-N-Sport

Spoke-N-Sport donated a complete Learn-To-Ride Program, including 24 Strider Learn-To-Ride Bikes, helmets and curriculum to Cleveland Elementary School. The bikes were assembled at the bike shop by employees who volunteered their time and school staff members. The donation will help more than 500 kindergarten students learn to ride over the next five years by incorporating the curriculum into their physical education classes.
