Girl Scout cookie program teaches entrepreneurship digitally
Feb. 9, 2018
The cookies are just as good as ever, but the skills taught are evolving for the digital age.
The annual Girl Scout Cookie Program kicks off today and runs through March 12.
A component called Digital Cookies allows the Scouts to manage online customers, and set goals and blasts through the system.
All net revenue stays in the Girl Scout’s council area.
New this year – a gluten-free option calls Toffee-tastics.
“The skills these young entrepreneurs learn from participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program lay a foundation and stay with them for a lifetime,” said Marla Meyer, CEO of Girl Scouts—Dakota Horizons.
“While girls are competitive and want to become a top seller, they are also learning how to work as part of a team, another skill they’ll need to hone to excel in their chosen careers later in life. As the premier leadership organization for girls, we are excited to see the Girl Scouts in our council grow not just as cookie sellers, but as true leaders.”
