Game Chest opened its holiday pop-up shop downtown to a big crowd.

The business is leasing space at 127 W. 10th St. for the holiday season while its permanent spot in the Jones421 building is finished.

The temporary location is the former QT Cakes and is next to the new Hydra Beer Hall.

Shoppers were lined up with games in hand shortly after the store’s Nov. 18 opening.

The owners did some remodeling and ordered a special inventory of popular games that are good for gift-giving, they said.

Game Chest will join several others retailers in the first-floor marketplace at Jones421 early next year.

Hours for the pop-up store are 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
