A field trip to Flyboy Donuts? It’s not only possible but also open to all ages.

Groups from preschools to retirement communities have been booking field trips at Flyboy, which is willing to take on additional groups.

“Field trips at Flyboy provide a little education about how we make doughnuts and a lot of fun talking about different types of doughnuts we make,” owner Ben Duenwald said. “We can adjust the field trip based on the audience and get more scientific about the baking process or entrepreneurial skills depending on the group.”

Most field trips tour the newer Flyboy location at 3600 E. 10th St. because it’s a little bigger to accommodate groups.

“It’s been fun seeing how kids react to the field trips,” Duenwald said. “They love to tell us about their favorite doughnut or their parents’ favorite doughnut. They also like seeing and feeling the dough we use for making doughnuts and guessing how many doughnuts we make every day.”

The cost of a field trip is $5 per student, which includes a doughnut and drink for each student, dougnut holes for the whole group, plus free coffee and doughnuts for teachers and staff.
