Fiero Pizza’s new dessert helps relive childhood

Fiero Pizza is bringing a childhood favorite to the dessert menu.

The serving size is a scoop, but it’s not ice cream.

“Over the holidays, I was baking cookies with my 4-year-old and I noticed she kept taking bites of the cookie dough, and I thought that it would be a fun new menu item for downtown,” owner Jennifer Kelly said.

Fiero Pizza, 212 S. Phillips Ave., will start selling the treats at noon Saturday, and the first 30 customers who buy a pizza will get a free scoop. The restaurant is starting with small batches of various flavors, including the classic chocolate chip. The dough is made with pasteurized eggs.

Kelly hopes that the cookie dough will be a hit.

“It is a fun kickoff to summer and can give that sweet-tooth fix.”
