The founders of Fernson Brewing Co. will share their entrepreneurial story this week at an event co-sponsored by First Bank & Trust and the Zeal Center for Entrepreneurship.

It’s the first program of their partnership, an event called Innovation Insights that will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the brewery, 1400 E. Robur Drive.

“We’re pleased to partner with Zeal to proactively assist in fostering future economic growth opportunities within the entrepreneurial community in our city,” said Adam Kniffen, First Bank & Trust vice president and business banker.

Fernson founders Blake Thompson and Derek Fernholz will be joined by CEO Joel Thompson. They will share how they went from being friends brewing beer to producing specialty craft beer in a lucrative venture. Their insights will include thoughts on the process, breakthroughs, failures, innovations and plans for their business.

“Engaging with the entrepreneurial community through knowledge sharing, experienced expertise and continued empowerment is something that we, as a community bank, strive for,” Kniffen said. “Support and mentorship for local entrepreneurs is vital to the continued growth in Sioux Falls.”

Located at 2329 N. Career Ave., Zeal is a central hub for entrepreneurs to connect, collaborate and launch their business.  Zeal offers low-cost space and high-value resources designed to support the entrepreneur from startup to scale-up.
