Father-daughter photography trip on display in coffee shop

Feb. 22, 2019

A Sioux Falls photographer who sold his studio space and took off on a 7,000-mile outdoor photography adventure with his daughter is sharing the work he produced on the trip.

Paul Heckel’s photography is on display at Dunn Brothers Coffee, 5320 E. Arrowhead Parkway, through the end of February.

Heckel shot the photos in places from South Dakota to California and many states in between while traveling last summer with his 21-year-old daughter, Emma.

“I’ve always loved being outdoors,” Heckel said. “To be able to mix photography with travel has been unimaginable. I’m definitely hooked.”

Dunn Brothers will host a meet-and-greet with Heckel from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. He has more than 25 years of photography experience and most recently owned Lit Studios, an advertising and photography firm in downtown Sioux Falls.

Heckel is giving away a 22-inch-by-28-inch signed, framed print in a drawing at the end of February. Entrants can register at Dunn Brothers; the winner can select any photo from Heckel’s Instagram feed, @HeckelOutside, as a prize.
