Edgy, creative space planned for hair salon, photography studio

A photographer and a hair stylist are teaming up to open a business on Minnesota Avenue.

Tyler Jacobsen owns Jake Photography, and his friend Landon Blow owns Beauty by Blow.

They have decided to move their shared venture, JakeBlow & Co. from a small office at Ninth Street and Main Avenue to the former Modtro space at 217 N. Minnesota Ave.

The plan is to call it The Factory at JakeBlow and add a couple of other stylists who will rent booth space, Blow said.

“We have gotten together a group of bomb creative people who we collaborate with all the time and now can expand our empire in one space,” he said.

The Modtro building used to be an auto repair shop. Its two large glass doors sold the pair.

“You can’t pay for that bright natural light,” Blow said, adding they “love the open industry/factory vibes that fit all our styles.”

They plan to open the space in June.

“We all spend most of our free time painting, doing edgy fashion shoots and playing around with hair and makeup and clothes,” Blow said. “Our goal is to create a space we can dabble in all areas of our expertise as well as expand our craft creatively, giving clients a space to feel inspired and part of something bigger.”
