Downtown development plan for parking ramp to be announced

Details will be announced Tuesday for a development project connected to a new downtown Sioux Falls parking ramp.

The design and project explanation “for what will be an iconic and striking landmark for the downtown skyline” will be announced at the 4 p.m. City Council briefing, according to a city statement. With approval, the project will break ground in spring 2018.

The city named Legacy Developments as its partner in the mixed-use parking ramp project  at 110 S. Mall Ave. east of 10th Street and Phillips Avenue in February.

At that time, the vision shared was for street-level retail with several levels of parking and residential units. No images or details were provided at that time.

Legacy also is developing property at 10th and Phillips west of the future project. That building will house a Lewis Drug, Sanford Health clinic and second-story restaurant space and deck for neighbor PAve. That building is expected to open in the spring.

When the parking ramp was announced in February, the plan was to break ground this fall.
