Downtown deli opens in Carpenter Building

March 12, 2018

Myers’ Deli & More has opened, combining a deli, marketplace and bar inside the former ballroom of The Carpenter Building.

The space at 221 S. Phillips Ave. most recently was Keller’s Green Grocery.

“I’m excited,” owner Dan Myers said. “People are saying it’s clean and fresh, so I feel like I did something right.”

The menu includes hot and cold sandwiches, salads, hotdogs, brats and wraps. Myers’ favorite sandwiches include the Sing Sing Sing, which is Black Forest ham, capicola, bacon, gouda, greens tossed with a pecan vinaigrette, apples, red onion and Peppadew aioli; and the Comedian, which is prime rib, turkey, ham, bacon, Swiss, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber and a mustard aioli.

There’s also a meat and cheese counter, salad bar and grab-and-go marketplace featuring dairy products from Stensland Family Farms. Myers will add prepared meals soon.

The salad bar includes multiple soups and “is a huge touch,” Myers said, adding that items will rotate.

The bar offers a coffee menu along with beer and wine.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

While the deli menu is always available, dinner service will start in the next few weeks, he said.  For St. Patrick’s Day, he plans to serve mimosas and green beer along with corned beef and cabbage.

Myers also owns a catering company and has worked at several area restaurants. He’s a frequent award winner in chef competitions and plans to be constantly offering specials and evolving his menu.

“I’ll always be adding something,” he said.
