Cowboy Chicken to open next year

Cowboy Chicken plans to come to Sioux Falls early next year.

The national restaurant chain is leasing space at 2700 W. 41st St. by Great Western Bank.

It’s part of 14 planned franchised locations across South Dakota, Iowa and Kansas from the Franchise Restaurant Concepts Group, or FRC Group.

“We are thrilled that FRC Group is bringing Cowboy Chicken’s fresh, home-cooked food to the people of Sioux Falls,” said Sean Kennedy, Cowboy Chicken’s president and CEO, in a statement. “We’re offering a quick yet upscale option for those on the go.”

The Sioux Falls location is scheduled to open in January 2018. It will employ about 30 people.

Cowboy Chicken calls its culture “cowboy cool” and serves all-natural, hormone-free rotisserie chickens that are hand-seasoned in store, marinated for 24 hours and then slowly roasted for two hours over a wood-burning fire. Other dishes include signature sour cream tomatillo chicken enchiladas, scratch-made sides such as Twice Baked Potaters™, baked mac and cheese and Ranchero Beans and seasonal cobblers baked in-house daily. There also is catering and delivery service.

National restaurants: Who’s hot and who’s not

FRC Group, an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners, is operated by co-presidents Brendan Crowley and Luke Wilson, who have 30 years of experience as multi-unit franchise operators in both casual and fast casual concepts.

“Cowboy Chicken is a brand we are passionate about developing across the Midwest,” said Crowley. “The home-style, wholesome food and focus on hospitality really caught our attention when we were researching concepts to expand our restaurant portfolio.”
