Citi lays off 57 in business realignment

April 19, 2018

Citi is eliminating 57 jobs in Sioux Falls in an effort to align staffing with current business needs, the company said in a statement.

The retention positions are part of Citi-branded cards customer service.

“We encourage affected employees to explore other employment opportunities at Citi and will provide outplacement services and other benefits for those affected,” according to the statement.

The employees’ last day is expected to be May 12. At that point, they will receive a two-month paid, nonwork period to explore job opportunities at Citi and elsewhere, the company said. At the end of that time, affected employees who have not found other positions will receive separation pay benefits and outplacement services.

Citi recently took out an initial building permit for construction of its new four-story headquarters in southwest Sioux Falls. The building is expected to open in late 2019.
