POSITION SUMMARY: The chief human resources officer has oversight of all aspects of the Avera human resource functions. The CHRO is responsible for coordinating and supervising the development and implementation of plans, policies, procedures and programs relating to Avera human resources to ensure the successful achievement of Avera’s goals and long-term objectives. As counsel to senior management, the CHRO represents the human resource perspective on issues. As a member of senior leadership, the CHRO is a member of the Avera Administrative Council and the Operations Council. The CHRO will serve as the chair of the Human Resources Advisory Council, the Human Resource Committee, the Education Committee and Service Excellence Committee. Reporting to the CHRO will be the vice president of total rewards, vice president of talent nanagement, vice president of human resources operations, the human resource leaders of the regions, Avera Central Office, Avera Medical Group and the lead human resources roles for other designated entities.

Avera is a regional health system comprised of 330 locations in 100 communities throughout central and eastern South Dakota and areas of four surrounding states. Avera serves a population of nearly 1 million throughout a geographical footprint of 72,000 square miles and 86 counties.
