Brothers to open healthy dining option downtown

April 2, 2019

Two brothers are leasing space in the Jones421 Building downtown for OG Greens, a new restaurant focused on healthy options.

Brandon and Quinton Manning grew up in a “food family” around their parents’ catering business. Brandon’s wife is from Dell Rapids, and they moved to Sioux Falls from California, where he worked in technology on apps and websites. Quinton, a chef, then moved to Sioux Falls from the Bronx in New York City, where he began his career in fine dining.

“The people of Sioux Falls have been fantastic since I got here, and it’s a great opportunity to do something nice for them,” Quinton said. “A lot of our interactions as a family were based around the appreciation and humbleness of food, so something like this lets us do something we’re skilled at and combine our talents to do something exciting.”

OG Greens will be fast-casual style and offer build-your-own salads and bowls with bases such as farro, brown or wild rice and quinoa.

“Quinton came up with the name, and it took us about 30 seconds to agree. The acronym means ‘original goodness.’ Think about things that come from the earth that are unfettered and unprocessed by man and how they’re inherently good for us,” Brandon said.

“A lot of our signature dishes are based on regional products, locally sourced items that are naturally beneficial for people – the spices we incorporate with the sauces and dressings – a lot has gone into highlighting the benefits of simple flavors and greens. We want really high-quality products, and we want them to taste good.”

Protein options will include steak, chicken, shrimp and salmon, “and the menu is influenced by what we can source locally, to keep it interesting and pay respects to the seasonality,” Brandon said.

While they hope to eventually have multiple locations, starting in the Jones421 Building surrounded by other small businesses is ideal, they said. Their space is about 600 square feet and includes a small dine-in area.

“One of the amazing strengths of this being in the Jones is they have a lot of common-area seating, so people can grab their food and go sit or work,” Brandon said.

The business, which is the last to announce for the filled marketplace, will be located between Game Chest and Lavender Skies, and the hope is to open before Memorial Day.
