Avera Sacred Heart Hospital is buying Lewis & Clark Specialty Hospital in Yankton.

Avera will be purchasing all the buildings, property, plant and hospital equipment, including the 10-bed hospital, family medicine clinic, physical therapy clinic and the imaging center, according to a statement from Avera.

The independent physician practices located in the facilities will remain independent and become tenants.

The sale is expected to be finalized April 1, and more details will be released at that time.

The hospital was founded in 2002 by area physicians.
