Avera leasing most of Citi office building

By Jodi Schwan

Avera is subleasing almost all of a building on Citigroup’s northeast Sioux Falls campus.

The agreement gives Avera 90,000 square feet of office space, which it will use to open up more clinical space on the main campus of Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center.

Between 350 and 400 employees are expected to move to the space known as Building 3 on Citi’s East 60th Street North campus, which will be known to Avera staff as Palisades Place.

Departments moving include finance, part of health information management, coding/billing and corporate health.

“At Avera, patients are always our No. 1 priority. Because so many of our patient-care services in Sioux Falls are already located on our main campus, setting more space aside for patient care is in the best interest of and for the convenience of our patients,” said David Flicek, president and CEO of Avera McKennan.

“The growth of Sioux Falls and the growth of Avera are increasing demand for additional space, as well as Avera’s continued efforts to improve our infrastructure to accommodate the latest in medical technology and expertise.”

Time frames for the move are still being finalized.

Daktronics also leases space in the building, which hasn’t been used by Citi employees for several years.
